Get to know: Domaine Moingeon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2024

An elegant and mineral-driven Burgundy white wine from the high-sloping vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune.

Tasting Note

Domaine Moingeon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne 2024 is a precise, classic Chardonnay that shows all the tension and finesse you’d expect from this elevated Premier Cru site. Pale lemon in colour with green highlights, it opens with aromas of white flowers, lemon zest, green apple, and crushed limestone. On the palate, it’s taut and focused, combining bright citrus and orchard fruit with a fine, chalky minerality and mouthwatering acidity. The finish is long, saline, and beautifully clean. This is a refined Puligny-Montrachet that balances immediate charm with real ageing potential.

Top food pairings:

  • Grilled turbot or Dover sole with beurre blanc
  • Roast chicken with lemon and thyme
  • Comté or other nutty alpine cheeses
Kate Says

"This is proper, higher-altitude Puligny – all precision, lifted acidity, and quiet confidence. A wine for when you want elegance rather than volume."

Producer Info

Domaine Moingeon André et Fils is a long-established family domaine based in Saint-Aubin, with roots stretching back over 150 years. Founded in the 1950s by André Moingeon and now run by three generations of the family, the domaine is known for producing some of the best-value wines in the area. Their style is open and modern, but always respectful of terroir – allowing Puligny-Montrachet’s hallmark minerality and precision to shine through.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Chardonnay
  • Hand-harvested from a high-slope, south-east facing Premier Cru site for freshness and clarity
  • Careful pressing to preserve purity and finesse
  • Fermented using traditional Burgundian methods with modern, gentle handling
  • Matured in oak barrels for around 12 months for texture and subtle complexity

Good to know:

  • Region: Puligny-Montrachet, Côte de Beaune, Burgundy, France
  • Style: White, still, medium-bodied
  • Closure: Cork
  • ABV: 13%
  • Vintage: 2024

Why we love it:

This Burgundy white wine is a beautifully pure expression of Puligny-Montrachet, combining citrus precision, chalky minerality, and elegant length. A classic Premier Cru Chardonnay that will drink well now but has the structure to age gracefully over the coming decade.
