Get to know: Mabis, Biscardo Rosapasso, IGT Veneto, Italy, 2024

A vibrant Italian rosé wine from the Veneto region, crafted from Pinot Nero for elegance, freshness, and effortless drinkability.

Tasting Note

Mabis, Biscardo Rosapasso is a delicate rosé that strikes a lovely balance between freshness and gentle structure. Pale pink in colour with a brilliant hue, it opens with aromas of wild strawberry, cherry, and a delicate floral lift that's typical of the Pinot Nero grape. On the palate, this Veneto rosé is smooth and harmonious, offering soft red berry fruit, a subtle mineral edge, and a refreshing, savoury note. It finishes long, clean, and lightly saline, making it a polished example of Italian rosé wine with real food-friendly appeal.

Top food pairings:

  • Seafood risotto or linguine with prawns
  • Grilled white fish with lemon and herbs
  • Soft cheeses or light antipasti
Kate Says

"This is one of those rosés that feels just as at home on the table with food as it does enjoyed by the glass in the sun – elegant, understated, and quietly impressive."

Producer Info

Biscardo is a family-run winery based in Soave, with over 150 years of winemaking heritage. Now led by brothers Maurizio and Martino Biscardo, the estate blends deep-rooted tradition with a modern, quality-driven approach. Working across regions including Veneto, they focus on producing wines that offer aromatic purity, balance, and exceptional value – hallmarks of great Italian winemaking.

How it’s made:

  • Varieties: 100% Pinot Nero
  • Grapes grown on mineral-rich, volcanic soils near the Euganean Hills
  • Gentle pressing with around 10 hours of skin contact to extract colour
  • Cryomaceration at low temperatures to enhance delicate fruit aromas
  • Cool fermentation in stainless steel followed by short ageing on fine lees for added texture

Good to know:

  • Region: Veneto, Italy
  • Style: Rosé, still, dry
  • Closure: Technical cork
  • Vegan: Yes
  • ABV: 12%
  • Vintage: 2024

Why we love it:

This Italian rosé wine delivers everything you want from a quality Pinot Nero rosé – bright berry fruit, a smooth, balanced palate, and a refreshing finish. It’s versatile, elegant, and equally suited to relaxed lunches or easy midweek suppers.
